The Alpujarras are splendid walking country: ancient villages linked by donkey tracks, the higher paths in summer, and lower down in winter. The GR7 footpath from Gibralter to Athens passes close by. Fantastic birdwatching country, biking and horse riding. Skiing in winter at the Sol y Nieve ski resort. Three golf courses within an hour's distance. The historic town of Granada and the Alhambra Palace is a must.
