It is our aim to provide English speakers with a personalised service set in the heart of a Brazilian beach community; a complete alternative to the big tourist resorts and a wonderful base from which to explore cultural Salvador and its beautiful beaches.
The villa is set in a beautiful tropical garden in Praia do Flamengo, a village on the beach some 5 minutes'drive north of Salvador city centre and 15 minutes drive from the airport. Praia do Flamengo has a small centre which has cafés and shops. It is well served by buses which run up and down the coast.
The villa sleeps six. There is a good sized pool with slide; a children’s pool, a sauna and a barbecue.
At the bottom of the garden is a gate which leads directly onto Flamengo beach, a beautiful, clean, huge expanse of sand, bedecked with palm trees and some barracas (straw beach huts) selling drinks, seafood and other simple dishes.
Praia do Flamengo is a safe area. The condominium is completely secure.
It’s difficult to conjure up the beauty of a typical day in Salvador sat here on a filthy winter day in England but for me, there is something always magical about waking up in Praia do Flamengo: first of all you hear the roar of the South Atlantic and then, as you open your eyes, you are bathed in the most beautiful light. Take a cup of tea out onto the veranda (which the maid will bring to you) and you are enveloped in warmth and birdsong.
In the warm evenings take a caipirina on to the roof terrace and watch the moonlight playing on the ocean.

Praia do Flamengo is a wonderful surf beach. There is a surf school just by the villa and there is an English speaking instructor.
Further Details
An English speaking guide, Selma, will collect you from the airport and take you to the villa where Marizette, the housekeeper, will serve drinks and a meal.
There is a mobile phone in the villa so you can call Selma anytime you need help – to book a taxi, organise tours, advice on bus services, etc. She will confirm your return flight and take you to the airport.
Salvador is a stunning place to visit in terms of its natural beauty and an interesting place to visit in terms of its heritage and culture. The people are warm and friendly – hugely child friendly.
Salvador is the capital of Bahia, a state in the tropical north-east of Brazil that is about the same size of France. With its beautiful beaches, laid back atmosphere, rich cultural life and perfect year-round climate, Salvador is the choice of Brazilians who want to escape Sao Paulo and a few – very few – Europeans who have discovered this part of Brazil.
It is an area still almost completely unknown to the British although there have been quite a few features recently about Bahia in the press tipping it as the next ‘must go to’ destination.
