On the sunny southern coast overlooking the ocean, where one can see & hear the water lap on the shore. It has magnificent panoramic sea views towards the Desertas Islands.
Sleeps 2/3. 1 double bedroom, single bed for 2nd room.

The Veranda

The 7’6” wide veranda surrounds the apartment with plenty room to walk round, sit & sunbathe or just watch & listen to the sea lapping on the sea shore.

The Area

The view from the living room. The resort of Caniço de Baixo is a modern resort area with stylish villas, hotels and holiday homes.

Double Bedroom

The main bedroom has two windows & a door opening onto the west facing veranda. So it has plenty of light and a beautiful view west to the sea.

Kitchen

Fully fitted kitchen, equipped with everything you should need.

Lounge

The open plan living area comprises the kitchen, dining area and lounge area with access to the veranda.

TV Room

Then there is a separate TV & music room opening onto the conservatory. This was the second bedroom and now has a single bed, when required.

Caniço de Baixo is a beautiful, quiet and peaceful coastal resort. It is an ideal location for those who want a resort holiday, but away from the busy city of Funchal.
The apartment is situated at the end of the oceanfront promenade of Caniço de Baixo about 15 metres from the Praia dos Reis Magos [Reis Magos Beach].
The apartment is perfect for those who want a quiet and relaxing holiday, in a seaside holiday resort. The spacious living area means there are plenty of places to relax and get absorbed in a book. The spacious all round veranda means you can get up, walk around, soak up the sun and just stand and stare at the breathtaking view and watch and listen to the sea lapping on the sea-shore.
Madeira, one of the most beautiful islands in Europe, is Portugal's "Jewel in the Atlantic". The landscape is spectacular. A green mantle of rich subtropical foliage covers the landscape. The flowers & plants bloom throughout the year, making the island like a permanent floating flower show. The bright orange beak-like, birds of paradise flowers, blossom in open fields. Because of its sub-tropical climate, the island is often referred to as the "island of eternal spring". The temperature varies between 18C and 23C throughout the year.
The people are friendly, helpful and gracious.

Travel

Transfer to and from the airport can be arranged. Once you have cleared customs & collected your luggage, you will be met by your taxi in the arrivals hall. Payment can be made direct to the driver - please see our website for more details, link below.
We strongly recommend that you do not book car hire before leaving the UK, because if you need a car you may only do so for a few days rather than for the full week. Indeed upon arrival you may decide to use taxis or public transport.
The local bus service is excellent so much so that we always use the bus from Caniço de Baixo.
However, if you do decide to hire, there are four car hire companies in Caniço de Baixo just outside the apartment block. Their prices are competitive.
A local bus runs hourly to Funchal, Caniço Village and other locations on the eastern side of the island. The bus stop is about 30m from the apartment.

Activities

Caniço de Baixo is a good location from where one can hike and walk the islands amazing levada irrigation system spanning 2,500 kilometres, which meander round the mountains. One of the reasons we do not recommend car hire is because a local company does such good excursion trips and walks and many of our guests find this a more relaxing way of seeing the island. All the 12 local hotels welcome outsiders using the pools and facilities. Some charge a small fee.
The limpid waters of the Atlantic Ocean in Caniço de Baixo offer three excellent diving schools and perfect conditions to visit the fine ocean depths.
The crystal clear waters of Reis Magos beach is proven by the ‘Blue Flag’. Life guards keep a watchful eye on the swimmers.

Golf

The new dramatic Palheiro golf course with its stunning views is about 7 km away. UK visitors are always welcome, especially on Thursdays & Sundays when they welcome visitors to enter their competitions. English is the language of the club house.
Madeira’s oldest golf course, the PGA European Tour course -Santo da Serra golf course with its spectacular 27-holes is also within easy reach - 13 km away. Santo da Serra sits high on a plateau and has fantastic views out over the Atlantic. Please see our website for more details, link below.

The resort of Caniço de Baixo is a modern resort area with stylish villas, hotels and holiday homes. It has a good selection of amenities including restaurants, bars, 2 mini-market, 4 car hire outlets, souvenir shop and tourist shop.
The village of Caniço, with a shopping centre and supermarkets, is about 2km away. Funchal the capital of Madeira is approx. 12km. The airport is 13Km. Almost all of the local hotels offer indoor [heated in winter], and outdoor swimming pools. Most have Jacuzzi, sauna and gymnasium, health and beauty centre, massages, beauty salon, spa treatments. All hotels offer a Happy hour 18.30 to 20.00 with nightly entertainment – outside guests are made most welcome.
