La Platriere is a newly converted farmhouse offering peaceful holidays and short breaks in the heart of France. The property consists of a large house offering bed & breakfast, and an adjoining cottage all within 3 acres of garden. The house is reached by a driveway in a delightful secluded position, situated at the top of a hill, La Platriere offers stunning views across rolling green countryside. Guests are welcome to use the large swimming pool. The property offers accommodation of a high standard and is open all year round.

A car is essential. Driving distance to channel ports is approximatly 370 miles, taking about 6 hours drive. We are 30 minutes from the A71 and 20 minutes from the N7.

Two bedrooms upstairs which adjoin each other. Each room has exposed beams, wooden flooring (with rugs), and dormer windows which look out across the garden and surrounding countryside. Both rooms have central heating and electric fans. All bed-linen is provided.
The 2nd sitting room (downstairs) has a good quality double bed-settee and can easily be converted to a 3rd bedroom. A beautiful open-tread oak staircase leads upstairs to the twin-bedded room. Central heating.
Bathrooms

The bathroom is downstairs, and has a small french-style bath, with shower over, vanity unit with basin and mirror. Shelving below for toiletries. Towels provided. The bathroom also has a electric radiator. The separate toilet is also downstairs.
There are two living rooms. One has a bed-settee and double sofa, the other has entertainment facilites, three seater sofa and two armchairs. Both have wooden flooring and central heating.

Kitchen-diner is fitted with all modern equipment. The dining area has french doors which lead out to the private garden, which has outdoor furniture and barbeque.

The cottage and main house at La Platriere comply with new legal fire regulations recently applied throughout France. They are equipped with smoke alarms and emergency lighting. The electrics are checked annually by SOCOTEC.
The swimming pool complies with French and European Law concerning safety and an approved alarm system is in place.

Yes. Our facilities are child friendly. We have a stairgate, baby cot and high chair. The french-style bath is ideal for bathing small children.
We have special acknowledgment from Gites de France for our provision for small children and babies.

Restricted. Some pets can be accommodated. Well behaved pets are considered in the cottage for additional supplement of 15 euros per week. As we have animals ourselves, a dog, a cat and two goats, all dogs must be kept on a lead in the larger gardens at La Platriere.

Further Details
There is plenty to do at La Platriere. Our own facilities inlcude, swimming pool, childrens swings, and Boules court. We provide evening meals & lunches in the main house on request, and have small restaurant licence. The area is excellent for walking, horseriding, fishing, bird-watching, and cycling. The local lakes have beaches for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, pedalo boats, sailing, and windsurfing. The river Allier (15 mins drive) offer canoeing trips. Locally there is also organised mushroom picking, and guided walks to hear the belling of the deer in the forest. There are many medieval villages, castles and chateaux to visit in the area, and throughout the summer, medieval fetes, brocantes and dance and music festivals.
Excellent cuisine and regional wines to sample. Also locally Thermal baths and spa towns fed by the hot water from the volcanoes. Further afield are the volcanoes of Massif Central, amusement parks, zoos, paracliding and hot-air ballooning.

The cottage is available to rent throughout the year and is let from saturday to saturday during peak season, at other times it can be available for weekends etc. To assist changeover, we specify a departure time of 10 am and an arrival time after 4.00 pm.

Booking Notes
The price for the Cottage is for up to 6 people and includes bedding and towels. During exceptionally cold winter months an additional cost of €25 per week can apply for heating costs. A non-refundable deposit of €100 (for 1 week) or €150 (for 2 weeks) is required on booking with the balance to be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start of your holiday.
As cancellation charges apply so we do recommend you take out your own insurance, details of these charges are available when booking. Please also make your own travel arrangements, although we can offer travel discounts with certain ferry companies so please ask for details when booking your accommodation. We can assist with car hire if required, or for an additional supplement we can collect you from the nearest airports/train station - again please enquire when booking.
